One gives a contract stick with it… Short and simple … Griezman commanded that much money purely on talent and Athletico to sell someone to their direct competitor requires that edge. Finally, at 30 this is the biggest payday for him why go for cheap when your are valued more.
Frank is right though, sure Griezmann is entitled to his contract, however holding onto the money comes with a price, which is his prime years. If he's okay with getting paid and sit on the bench, that's fine. But he may be wasting a good chunk of his playing days and he will never get that again.

I'm with Frank Lebeouf, why did these players start playing football? It was always about enjoying the game, you only get to do this for 15 years at the top level, why not enjoy every moment of it. How much money does a single person need? If anything instead of 108M in the next 3 years, I'd make Barca and Atletico agree a way for me to make that same amount of money but in like 6 or 7 years instead, that seems more than fair enough to me
