'I got it wrong!' Are Atletico Madrid's La Liga title hopes now dependant on Luis Suarez? | ESPN FC

ESPN FC’s Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens (The Gab and Juls show) analyse Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 win against Alaves. Despite going ahead with a Marcos Llorente goal and the opposition going down to ten men, Atletico needed a last minute goal by Luis Suarez to secure all three points. Atletico now sit top of La Liga, two points clear of rivals Real Madrid and a huge ten points above Barcelona. Laurens admits he was wrong about the decision to sign Suarez from Barca, saying he believed Suarez’s injury issues would stop him making a big impact at Atletico. Suarez currently sits top of the La Liga top goal scorers despite contracting coronavirus back in November.

  1. unique karki dijo:

They should've sold him to a different league

  2. These guys said Suarez was finished when he left Barca, when he was one of their best players before he left and always was scoring goals.
These guys are mainstream take of football !

  3. Re Mo dijo:

    El pistolero es el pistolero!!?

  4. Re Mo dijo:

    El pistolero es el pistolero!!?

  5. You are the very guys who said Ronaldo is finished in fuckin 2016. You are the guys who've handed Messi a retirement at least thrice. You guys are the king of writing people off. You guys are like how Banner says in Avengers before turning Hulk. "That's my secret captain. I'm always wrong". Surprise Surprise. An Espn Pundit got it wrong lol.

  6. van juty dijo:

L.Suarez is one of the best players ever, one of the GOATs. Whoever suggested to sell him to AM are either "on the take" or one of the thickest people (or group of people) on the planet……….. or in the Galactico (lolz).

  7. Dylan dijo:

Suarez suits Athleticos style more than barca as he got older. Barca is more dynamic

  8. Arman Khan dijo:

stop uploading their podcast video. We don't like it.

  9. Greekgold dijo:

RIP lampard welcome to Chelsea nagelsmann

  10. JohnDaWhale3 dijo:

Just waiting for this guys headset to fall off his head…

  11. Gab has got some cool hoodie collection ??

  12. D M dijo:

Good to see an ESPN pundit admitting they were wrong. Let’s hope the rest can learn but that would mean they admit they were wrong about almost everything

  13. M Westerberg dijo:

There's no replacement for a natural finisher. Suarez will score a good chance 9 times out of 10, Llorente will score the same chance 6 times out of 10. Conversion rate matters. "Expected goals" is a useless stat from people who don't actually watch much football.

  14. Nando dijo:

Barcelona committed football suicide giving Suárez to Atleti, Messi said so himself in the recent interview.

On top of that Barça continues to pay half of his salary and they gave him to Atleti for free!

Now Atleti are on top of the table with two games to spare and Suárez Pichichi, no penalties taken yet, rarely playing complete games and even had COVID 19 missing some games.

What kind of insane story is this?

  15. Will Hull dijo:

Suarez was always going to be motivated by the move to prove he is a top striker still. Barca letting him go in the manner they did with no respect for suarez was stupid especially by what he did for barca.

  16. Timbon dijo:

2 iditos talking about futbol what a waste of my time

  17. El 'Atletico de madrid' tiene a Luis Suarez.
Pero no olviden que TODO EL EQUIPO es importante.

  18. Timbon dijo:

Morata was the man to stay but…

  19. Fire Barcelona coach, how could you let Luis Suarez go?????? Barca needs to clean house with management.

  20. john honai dijo:

Still dont understand why simeone prefer correa over jo felix

  21. Cat dijo:

Barcelona made the biggest blunder in the history of transfer to sell luis Suarez

  22. Juan Louis dijo:

I've said it since he arrived..they're bound to win la liga with Suarez in the team. Suarez is and will always be the 3rd best player in the world after Messi and Ronaldo!!

  23. these two are typical espn, tmz gossipers. today atletico depends on suarez, yesterday suaurez was finished, oh barca regrets losing him. these two or the fat one always contradict themselves.

  24. JAY MOSES dijo:

Ofcourse, Luis Suarez is their best player, he is an elite striker eventhough he is a bit slow. It was absolutely stupid for Koeman to let him go especially when he couldn't get a suitable replacement, I mean how can Koeman think that Griezmann, Braithwaite and Dembele can fill those shoes, he's a stupid coach

  25. alan duncan dijo:

No. Not these pair of muppets again! Put them in them thumbnail so I know not to click on it in future.

  26. As a Barca fan I so wish Suarez was still at nou camp. The club should never of let him go. Barca struggling for goals and suarez banging them in for Atletico.

  27. Both of these guys are fool. Bye

  28. Barca be like: We don't have a chance so we will give such a goalscorer to Atletico. Rivals of our rivals is our friend.

  29. Cuma dijo:

Just like you were wrong about Ole Jules.

  30. hooligan dijo:

Let us give a standing applause for Koeman for his intelligent move for selling most reliable striker in the squad – Suarez.

  31. ShakAfshar dijo:

Athleti would have won the champions league if they had a striker like Luis Suarez

  32. Av dijo:

With Suarez , Barca could have easily won La Liga.
    Kudos to Koeman and Bartomeu.

  33. TrevorKane dijo:

Atletico has only conceded 6 goals after 15 games!!!

  34. Eben Dickson dijo:

Gab doesn’t think players above 28 are worth it

  35. Luckily for Atleti this season others are stepping up when Felix/Suarez aren’t having their best games, Llorente, Carrasco, even Lemar now are popping up with plenty of goals and assists, so it isn’t like old years where we’d just rely on Griezmann for 25 goals a season, this year everyone is contributing on a consistent basis

  36. JaKrispy 777 dijo:

Good segment. Nice to hear a pundit flat out say "I got it wrong".

  37. Jaco Rust dijo:

From the guys who said Suarez is no longer the player he was or good enough for Barca

  38. I never wanted him sold, I wanted him benched or used as a super sub. Selling him in such a way was so disrespectful

  39. Dr. Diaz dijo:

He's the reason why they are on top

  40. Free Vortex dijo:

Gab has absolutely no feel for football. Gets things wrong so often have its not worth getting into

  41. ayman amrani dijo:

    suarez > messi
    what a legend ❤️

  42. WetModBob dijo:

Suarez isn’t as good as he is before he can’t make anything but he knows where to go good poacher and expertise , the whole team need to play good especially Felix he creates the goals and llorenyr for the hot runs

  43. Tokyo dijo:

    Julien: "I got it wrong."

I plead with the other ESPN pundits to listen and learn from that wonderful bit of honesty.

  44. The facts are Barcelona & Real Madrid are struggling over the last couple of years is a great opportunity for Atletico and I hope they do go on to win the league, good luck to them , I always like a change of champions in any league as It's good for football and the fans as It keeps it more interesting for us all to enjoy ✌️

  45. wispa dijo:

Just thought I'd mention that there's a typo in the title. It should say "dependent", not "dependant".

  46. Kp singh dijo:

suarez 264 career assists.. more career assists than cristiano ronaldo.. lewandowski 137 career assists…
