Lowe explains how the massive player turnover could force Diego Simeone to change Atleti’s entire identity, which Moreno and Nicol predict would end horribly for a team hoping to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid for the La Liga title.

Typical talk of ATM, everyone dismisses them from the start, saying they won't do anything this season. Let's look, the last 2 years they finished 2nd behind Barca, the 3 years before that they finished 3rd behind Barca and RM, the year before that they win La Liga. I don't think you finish top 3 of la Liga consistently for the last 6 years defending all the time. They must win more than a couple of games to finish up there

Atletico have made some good signings but a lot of their important players departing might give out some warning signs that they might struggle in a few ways this season because they are going through a transitional phase.
Sometimes I feel like everyone hates atleti because when Atlético plays the original simione way these same guys label it as negative football and lacking creativity.. when they go out and get creativity now it’s “u can’t be unsure and I don’t think simione trust this” atleti is making all the right moves being more optimistic and with the players that left even if simione wanted to switch back to his old style the team can’t because it’s new players
After Messi retired or out from Barca, i think La Liga will be more competitive…

Atletico Madrid finally will be able to rotate players and be more tactically flexible which could help them close the gap to Barcelona. But playing 4-4-2 is still too rigid and it's up to Simeone to let Atletico's attacking strengths to shine instead of being too defensive.

thats still a strong side on paper, costa if he stays is a handful for anyone, felix cost a lot but he will develop, saul is one of the best young midfielders. oblak is in the top 3 keepers in the world. its a new era but still a competitive side.
