Atletico must take responsability here for having players encouraging to racist abuse in advance of the game.
Most of these racist incidents are driven by the opposing fans desire to knock the opposition off their game. That's all it is.
And they would say anything, so long as it can get under the skin(no pun) of an opposition player they perceive to be a threat to the ambitions of their own team. So it's not really because they are racist. It's basically poking at sensitive areas.
A good example of this can be seen when Ronaldo and Messi are playing against different teams. The fans would chant Messi's name, in order to rile up Ronaldo. And likewise Messi. It's all done in a bid to knock the player off his game. Messi lives in Ronaldo's head rent free😄 and fans know this. So they would go there with him.
