Report: Chelsea make their move to sign ‘incredible’ dribbler who taunted Eden Hazard just last year
Chelsea have reportedly made an offer to Atletico Madrid over the signing of Yannick Carrasco.
According to AS, the Blues are one of the Premier League clubs interested in acquiring his services this summer, with Tottenham and Manchester United also reportedly interested in the Belgian.
Carrasco joined Atletico from Monaco in 2015, before becoming one of the European stars to make the big-money move to China, signing for DL Yifang.
He eventually returned to the Spanish club in 2020, picking up where he left off before his move.
His reunion with Diego Simeone brought great joy to the Argentine, with him previously describing the winger’s dribbling as ‘incredible’.
The Belgium international scored six and assisted as many in the league, helping Diego Simeone’s side to a third placed finish and a run to the Champions League quarter-finals.
The club are in the middle of somewhat of a rebuild, with Luis Suarez headlining a list of departures from the Metropolitano.
AS report that Carrasco could be the next big name to leave, with Chelsea being one of the clubs offering a change of scenery to the 28-year-old.
They also say that he currently has a release clause of around £52m, although suggest Simeone sees the winger as a key part of his plans for the future.
The signing would see the Blues bringing in a real character, with the Atletico man being captured mocking former superstar Eden Hazard on camera after they beat their Madrid rivals, Real, to the La Liga title in 2021.
Chelsea’s interest in wingers has been well-documented this summer, with Raheem Sterling and Raphinha being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
With the pair already being proven Premier League goalscorers, the club could be more inclined to move towards those if they look to strengthen in the wide areas this summer.
