Do you mean English media are biased ?? no way ?
???? madrid defending Frank ???
Falto muy poco
Miracle is too big a word for this.. they were only 1 down and still had let xG than city in the second game
I think Simeone's Atletico Madrid were about to make a miracle, however they were facing Pep's Man City. In fact, Simeone's team knows how to play from defensive part, their only issue is they usually disappoint in the decisive moments.
English arrogance all over espn fc, just a bunch of washed up pros ( especially Steve Nicols) crying because City were not up to the physical and mind battle that athletico Madrid brought them.
Isnt this strategy 101? If a team is better than you, you park the bus in your 18 and try to hit them on the counter attack? Im with Luis and Frank, Jules and Shaka can say they have offensive weapons and could have played more positive but thats all theoretical, especially against a team like City who will punish any mistake or exploit any space in a heart beat. Im a bit disappointed with Shaka, Jules, Stevie and Craig who made it pretty personal against Simeone and seem to think his "negative style" is his alone or something new. It seems he was just giving his team the best chance of winning. Good discussion
Luis is waffling about Real Madrid to deflect from how awful Atleti were
Manchester united is waiting for diego simeone to together take revenge against guardiola and man city.
City can't win champions league like this.
"I would have liked them to play more attacking" How has that worked for teams trying to play like-for-like against City in the last 3/4 seasons? Outside of the annual slip up against Brighton, Norwich, or another mid to lower tier EPL team, it's resulted in them getting torn to shreds. Why would Simeone, who likes a compact, organized formation, open up and leave his team exposed for City to slap them by 3+ goals. The game is soft and we need more managers like Simeone that'll bring back some grit and passion to this soft generation of "footballers".
Little pathetic to see Enrique compare Real Madrid performance to Atheltico, pure delusion ?
The way how Shaka is speaking you would swear that simeone has finished out of the top 10 every year and never won anything. Steupzz
Im all bout tough matches with physicality but if you still have the never to call a lot of kicks on foden or the hair pulling of grealish from savic physicality then u wrong. We play soccer not for injuries yes they happen but it not supposed to be a norm. This is not UFC. If they want Savics type of physicality I think UFC will give them an opening without even regretting it.
I don't think 1-0 over two legs against Man City with their current state is a result that deserves this much controversy. ATM certainly deserves to be applauded here.
Is all about result. Look at Villarreal. Defended like crazy and took their chances and now every one is completely in love with villarreal and are calling emery a tactical genius. You have to be smart when playing teams that are on paper and technically better then you. If Villarreal had played beautiful football like Juls suggests, they would've lost by at least 4 goals. Same goes with Atletico.
I'm no city fan but u have to give them respect.. and sit back… not alot of teams can go at them like Liverpool and if u do u will get ripped apart
Before simeone they wouldn’t be known as much around the world, they’ve cemented themselves in the top 4 in Spain, they were never that consistent before in their history only maybe 40-50 yrs ago…they didn’t have any money to spend before Simeone got the 13-14 title over Messi and Cristiano and they made it to two ucl finals
atletico got what they deserved
Luis García is spot on. He’s been a great addition to the crew. YNWA
Lebouf roasting the british hypocrites. What a legend
when pep leaves so will the good football
When Pep came to England they were so critical of his style of play and now it funny to see English fans complaining that ATM is using English identity to solve there problems. I remember statements like “ EPLis so physical and that wouldn’t be a foul in EPL. Now all of a sudden English fans and press talking about ATM is be dirty And they are not playing attacking and possession football.. English teams over recent yrs are adapting Spanish way of playing and acting like they invented possession and attacking football.
Shaka, Man city didn’t decide to defend either. The fact is they had had to
I like sexy football but I also accept that there are many ways of winning football matches. But, for Simeone to encourage his players to be that violent, I don't think something to be praised for. Simeone and his players must be strongly condemned so that they can stop that madness and play football only.
It was dirty football from both teams. Liverpool is the only team to cheer for now.
Obvious bias for the UK pundits.
Frank is the ? perfect opinión totally agree. Send me one of your books ?
I am sick of people complaining about teams not playing this "beautiful style of football". In a knockout competition such as Champions League it is vital to reduce the amount of risk and create a lack of opportunities for the other team. Historically knock-out competitions have been won by teams who play a more defensive style.
I thought the game today was one of the most exciting matches of the entire tournament despite being a 0-0 draw. The passion, and grit in this game was beautiful and is why I love the game.
Everybody is so obsessed wit freeflowing football they basically forget the basic of football, you want AM to play tikatak during the of messi era foolish, simone had done enough to prove himself both football with and money wise for football club, dnt forget little time ago they have won the laliga, dnt be greedy man, basically either u r asking manager to change his philosphy or to sack the manager.
Love this channel the panel great stuff guys !
i would rather see more of this figth than just boring football which sometimes happen when City is playing against some of the bigger boys (Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea etc.), especially El Clasico needs this figth and also the Liverpool – Manchester City games. I hate seing after the game both teams hugging each other instead of showing the pure hate towards each other
I've just become an athletico fan ?
Phil foden roles his self on to the pitch to disrupt play.
Agree with Frank & Luis. UK gone woke.. Always whining. The game was riveting. And Man City came out on top. Celebrate that!
I agree with Frank, was a good game so much action, bring on the dark arts yeah!!!
I agree with Frank Lebuof. I have not seen City defending like that in ages. Beautiful game!
Well said shaqka
Games gone soft
You guys hurt Luis Garcia's feelings.
Well said Frank le Bouef.
Athletico Madrid fans seem to like this approach! They seem to look at it as their identity. And they feel as though Diego is the correct manager for that. So it really doesn't matter what the studio panel thinks pertaining to this. Keep up the good work guys ????
WHAT ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT SHAKA HIS-FLOP ?!
How far can a La Liga Champion and Spain Top 3 go if they Don't go out to get that 30+- Win year in year out for 10 years ? Atletico already is the 2nd or 3rd most scoring team in LaLiga right now. They just pick and choose in how they approach their opponents. They are pragmatic and strategic just something naive English football is foreign to.
It's fascinating to know that Rodri came from a team of such arrogance but still being a humble player
You all are clueless really. Atleti has always been known as an attacking team. Attack is in their DNA. What they didn't do well is defense. They can score 3 goals but equally can let past 4 goals in a match. In came Simeone and changed all that and Atletico got results. It landed them 2 La Ligas 2 Europas and Champions League Final twice.
They curbed their Attacking instinct so that they get the result by not conceeding goals. So in case of Man City, Atleti has always have that ability to fight back and Attack. It was just a matter of when to do it. They wouldn't risk it in the 1st leg. They kept it for their Home Leg. But because they've conceded 1 goal to minimize risk of falling 2-0 they've decided to All Out Attack in the 2nd Half. As you all have seen we've BROKEN City's passing game and sent them to resort to the 'Dark Arts' themselves. We've DONE that to Pep's barca and Bayern Munich way before. Simeone and Pep were no stranger to each other in The Champions League or La Liga. In fact it was Simeone's Atletico that managed to contain Messi Barca in certain matches.
Simeone is cautious and a Master Pragmatist but that just belies the True Attacking Power of Atletico de Madrid. We have always know how to Attack.
Didn't Kiko, Vieri, Hasselbaink, Forlan, Aguero, Fernando Torres, Falcao, Diego Costa, Griezmann, Joao Felix ring any bell ??
You Can't be that Daft, Can You ?
There is no right or wrong way of playing football
